Captain's Update 9th September 2014

Dear Blacks, Hugo here.

There are a few important changes that have occurred around the club in the past week that I would like to make all members aware of:

Website Changes

If you look around the website you may notice there have been some changes of late, the most important can be seen under the "Blacks Corner," section, where you will notice two new web pages.

- Alumni and Mailing List

- Vice Presidents

These two pages have been a long time coming and will be of significant help in establishing a club database of alumni and in updating the long out-dated Vice Presidents contact list. I won't go into further detail as each page outlines it's purpose so please take the time to have a read.

To those of you who may still be in contact with anyone you know to be a past member or current VP of AUBC it would be greatly appreciated if you could forward this information on to them.

Online Donation

Thanks to the work of Vice Captain Lachy Ward you can now donate to AUBC, via the Australian Sports Foundation, online and receive a receipt for tax purposes on the spot. This greatly reduces the work involved in processing donations and is a great step forward.

To donate go to the "Donate to AUBC," page and follow the instructions. I'd like to remind you that all donations greater than $2.00 are tax deductible and are greatly appreciated.

Treasury Department

The past week has also seen a number of major grants for AUBC approved by the Adelaide University Sport Board. This is due almost entirely to the efforts of Lachy Ward, Vice Captain, ex-Treasurer and Adelaide Uni Sport Board member.

The past few months have seen Lachy work tirelessly on many of our clubs major projects including: the online donation system, boat turnover and grant applications, Vice Presidents fundraising luncheon, treasury accounting software and long term financial planning. Additionally Lachy has been training full-time as one of the key members of the Intervarsity Men's Eight for 2014. I feel that it is particularly important to acknowledge his efforts of late as they have been immense, there is no doubt that AUBC would not be in such a strong position at present without him. Thanks Lachy!

Club Uniform

With summer around the corner, another "bulk ordering window," has been opened with our uniform supplier. During the next fortnight any purchases made will be mailed to the club and distributed by the committee, saving on posting. There are some exciting new additions and I encourage you to have a look:

The Patina Restoration

As I'm sure you have all noticed the old F-Troop boys led by Philip Marhsal have spent countless hours restoring the Patina. The boat looks as good as new and we have a couple of special appearances planned for it. Great work guys!

Thats all for today. Cheers and Go Blacks!
