Captain's Update 11th August 2013

Dear Blacks, I hope you are well and coping with the cold weather better than I am. Just another brief update of some recent goings on around AUBC.

U23 World Champs

Congratulations to AUBC athlete and committee member Peta White who recently competed and placed 4th in the AUS Women's eight at the U23 World Champs. Well done Pedro! Peta has now returned to Australia to commence her training for the World Champs in September, we wish her all the best!

Ned Kinnear...

If you have been paying attention to the clubs website and facebook (like I recommended in my last five emails)  in the last few weeks you may have noticed a couple of great articles written by Ned Kinnear outlining his bid to row for AUS at the World Champs in South Korea this year. I recommend everyone gives them a read as I think they provide an interesting insight into the selection system, thanks Ned!
You can find them here: http://aubc.asn.au/rowing/bulletin-board.html

Bar and Functions Centre

Just a reminder to all members that work is available behind the bar at the club during external functions. Club members are paid $15/hr for their help with part of their fee going towards the club, please let me know if you would like more info!

Boat Christening
A reminder that our new boat the lightweight men's 4- /4x The "Patrick Maddern" will be christened on Sunday the 25th of August. All members are invited, please make an effort to attend! Drinks will be provided for those that donated towards the boats purchase. Proceedings will commence at Midday.

Intervarsity 2013

You'll be pleased to know that things are shaping up nicely for IV, we have decided to focus on the bigger boats and boat the small boats from them meaning we should be very competitive across the board. I'll be sure to update you on our progress!
Until next time!

GO BLACKS!
