Blacks claim seven medals at Aust Uni Champs Rowing!

{gallery}Latest_News/IV2011:::1{/gallery}The Adelaide University Boat Club has acquitted itself admirably at last week's 2011 Australian University Championships, taking medals in 7 categories, and being denied even more by race cancellations due to weather.

Current mens quad scull World Champion James McRae, and 2011 Rowing World Championships silver medallist Peta White, highlighted the 41-strong South Australian contingent, including 3 coaches and 3 athletes from UniSA, who travelled to Penrith, NSW for the regatta.

AUBC Congratulates its World Championship Medalists

{gallery}Latest_News/worldchamps2011:::1{/gallery}Chris Morgan created history on Saturday, as his historic win in the
Australian Mens Quad Sculls at the 2011 Rowing World Championships in
Bled, Slovenia.

In a day of records, this was Australia first ever title in this
category, and its best ever team performance at a Worlds.
Fellow Blacks Peta White and Renee Chatterton contributed to this
stellar effort, with their hard fought silver medal in the Australian
Womens Coxless Four adding to the 10 medals, including three golds.

Top athletes build for the Rowing World Championships

2010 IV Men's VIII Victory Dinner

{gallery}IV_VIII_Dinner:::1{/gallery}On Friday August 26 at 7pm the members and supporters of the club will be holding an event in support of the IV Men's VIII victory from last year. It will be black tie in the newly rennovated Barr Smith Boat Shed

Although it has been some time since the crew crossed the line first there has been much activity in the club in the past 9 months and it was thought that this would provide a fantastic opportunity to promote the coming IV season.

Coach Swift!

Swifty_coachWe looked high and low and in the end there he was right in front of our faces! Andrew Swift, former lightweight national champion (and very much former lightweight!) has been appointed coach of the AUBC Senior Men and Senior Women. Andrew will work along side Brooke and Mike to deliver coaching for all crews.

Annual General Meeting 2011

AUBC_logo_copyThe Adelaide University Boat Club held its 2011 AGM in the Barr Smith Boatshed on the 1st of May this year.

All positions were made vacant and a new committee elected, including 9 new members. Vice Presidents were re-elected, and some added. Michael Jeffries and Brian Richardson continued as Club President and Patron respectively.

After utter dominance at the SA and NSW state championships, Blacks sculler Chris Morgan had to be content with silver in the Open Mens Single Scull, after his historic Gold in the same event last year. This was followed by medals in the double and quad.

AUBC & TWF Joint Lottery Drawn

The 2011 Extraordinary Joint Lottery for the Tim Willoughby Foundation for Medical Research and the Adelaide University Boat Club was drawn on Saturday evening at the Annual Dinner.
